Introduction to City and Regional Planning

Fall 2015, 2016, 2017 and Summer 2017, Georgia Institute of Technology, School of City & Regional Planning

Aided by the staff and training I received from the Center for Teaching and Learning, I introduced new teaching tools—including polling software, cloud based group collaboration software, and face-to-face interactive experiences to this course. The class was affiliated with the Serve Learn Sustain center at Georgia Tech, which requires courses to address learning objectives that rely on service-learning and community based teaching activities, and to address social inequity in our broader community.

AWARDS

I was awarded the Graduate Student Instructor of the Year in 2017 and 2018 by the School of City and Regional Planning.  My devotion to science based teaching and learning strategies was recognized by the Provost and the Dean of the College of Design who asked me to serve as one of two student members on the Commission for Creating the Next in Education, part of Georgia Tech’s effort to adopt new and innovative educational methodologies. I served on the Steering Committee for Georgia Tech’s participation in the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL), a consortium of 42 research universities seeking to enhance undergraduate education by preparing future faculty. I received a Certificate in Teaching for Higher Education from the Georgia Tech Center for Teaching & Learning.
